A Resounding Phew

This was a killer week.

This morning I approached my morning routine with a sense of relief, or as much as one could have at this point.

I grabbed a cup of coffee, reheated from the pot of leftovers from yesterday, grabbed a smoke, and went out back into the fresh morning air and checked all my notifications from overnight.

Once back inside, I settled myself on the couch, in the dark living room and quietly used my (highly god-damned addictive!) coloring app to color the picture of the day, and however many other pictures it took for one of my male cockatiels to sing the song of his people to let me know they were ready to start the day.

Then I said, “Hey Alexa, start my day.” Alexa gave me the weather forecast and then played “Here Comes the Sun,” while I opened the blinds for the birds.

I think about how this morning there is one less uncertainty. This morning, we have a president-elect that was called shortly after my morning routine yesterday.

I may have let out an elated scream of joy yesterday morning. I know I let out a huge exhale of relief.

I’ve never really been into politics. It’s not my thing. I always vote though. I try to educate myself on the candidates first, and mostly I do. If I don’t have the luxury of time to do such, I vote…
