Or, how to waste time playing games for money
We’ve all seen the ads that promise making money playing games on your phone.
For a long time, the only game I played on my phone was Words with Friends 2. I play with several of my friends.
I kept seeing ads for those games where you select one of three things to get out of the situation you were in. Like you are freezing: do you need a coat, a chicken, or a sledgehammer?They started to appeal to me after seeing so many ads, so I downloaded one of them. It was absolutely not the game that was advertised. I deleted it and downloaded a different one when I saw another ad. Same thing. Another game that was essentially a Candy Crush rip-off with a storyline involved, and you have to win games to clean and upgrade your living space or garden space. I played one of them for a while, but it really became less and less interesting. I just played to give myself something to do instead of worry about the things I needed to worry about.
I was really worried about money, and how I was going to make it through January. I teach part time online, and part time when classes are available at the local community college. The online college shuts down from around December 20 through the first week of January. The spring semester at the local community…
