I Can’t Stand the Rain

Honestly, I enjoy a good storm. It’s my daughter that can’t stand the rain.

I think of this song just about every time it rains.

Here in Iowa, along the Mississippi river, we’ve had so much rain, and so many storms so far this spring. There have been flash flood warnings with every storm. Businesses have gone under (bad pun) due to flooding. It’s been heartbreaking as many of the businesses that suffered were unique and independent small businesses. It’s been good to see the community come together to help those businesses that have managed to stay afloat (again, bad pun).

We’re just coming off about three or four days of storms with tornado watches.

Yesterday was one of those days where we had several storms move through the area.

With my daughter’s issues with rain… It’s more than just the normal “I can’t stand the rain!” She has some pretty profound auditory sensory issues. It becomes hysteria when there’s any kind of “alert,” “watch,” or “warning” attached to the rain. Thunder and lightning have her pretty much as close to me as she can…
