It’s incredible how things manage to find you.

Last year, just reading random Medium pieces, I stumbled upon a name for one of my daughter’s issues: Misophonia. She has huge dramatic reactions to sounds. That includes certain music. Like she cannot stand Bob Marley! A Bob Marley song on the radio will have her covering her ears and kicking the seats until I turn it off. She absolutely has Misophonia, and I never knew it was a named thing until I stumbled upon it.

Somehow, somewhere — maybe TikTok? I was directed to a Facebook group called neurodivergent cleaning crew. These are absolutely my people! I have NEVER been in a group that I have identified with so completely. After watching TikToks and being in this group, I am 100% sure I have ADHD. I identify so much with those in the cleaning group, and now have a much better understanding of things that I do and don’t do. It’s pretty validating and eye-opening to gain insight and learn hacks that are very specific to how my brain works.

I feel like a special sort of ass because when I was discovering my oldest has Aspergers (through random posts on Facebook), I researched the hell out of it, even though it was a pretty immediate “OMG my son totally has Aspergers.” But, a few years later, at my daughter’s second evaluation, they…
