When You Live on the Edge, a Sense of Humor Helps
Because sometimes, you can only laugh
Driving away from dropping my children off at school, ten minutes late, as usual, the “check engine” light on my mom’s car lit up. I looked at it and laughed.
Why not?
In no way was this not funny at that point in time.
I have been agonizingly debilitated over car issues for about a week.
Things always seem to happen when we are least able or capable to deal with them. Or maybe it’s just me and my life.
Some days, my life feels like a whirlwind. I mostly let the wind take me where it needs to, and I just go along with it.
I’m starting to realize that it may not be the best way to live.
Most of the time, I have been fortunate and things have worked out well enough.
In August, I was facing unemployment, and could barely allow myself to think about it, let alone take action. I did send emails to the higher powers at the college I teach online for, and by some miracle, I was given a course to teach. Not the overlapping courses I was used to, but at least one. There was about a week gap and then a single offering.
